Lincoln/Lancaster County GIS Viewer Help:
The upper-left portion of the map is called the "Banner" area. In the top-right of the banner area are
navigation tools that can be used to manipulate the map view. Click on a navigation tool to make it the
active tool. Also in this area are three menu icons: Map, Tools, and Help. Mouse over each icon
to display the items in the menu. Below is an explanation of the navigation tools and menu items.
Navigation Tools:
The active navigation or action tool is displayed below the navigation tools. To change the navigation tool,
click the desired tool.
Zoom In - Click and hold the left mouse button on the upper-left corner of the
desired area. Drag the mouse to the lower right corner. When the mouse button is released,

Zoom Next - Click to zoom to next extent.

Map Layers - Click to view the layers in the map. Use the slider at the top to make the
Map and Aerial Imagery more or less transparent. Click on the checkbox next to the layers to turn them on or off.
Click the plus sign next to the check box to display the list of sub-layers included in the layer. Sub-layers can be
checked on or off individually. The top-level layer
must also be checked in order for the sub-layer to be displayed. If a check box is not displayed next to a sub-layer
name, the layer is visible at all display levels. Otherwise, the layer is only viewable at certain levels, usually
when the map is zoomed in further. If you select a checkbox and it is grayed out, this is an indication that you must zoom in further for the layer to be visible.
To change a layer's transparency, click the "Layer Transparency" icon in the title bar of the Map Layers window.
Slide the bar associated with a layer left and right to set the transparency level. To view the map legend, click
"Legend Details".
Overview Map - Displays an overview window of entire map.
Bookmarks - Bookmarks allow a specific map extent to be saved. To save the current map extent, click
the icon with the green plus symbol and enter a name for the bookmark. To return to that extent at a later time,
click the bookmark entry. To remove a bookmark, click the red "x" on the right side of the bookmark entry.
Quick Print - Click to print the current map. The printout will not include any additional information
about the layers included in the map. Use the Print Property Information function in the Parcel Search window to produce a printout that includes property information.

Manipulating windows:
Most of the items in the menus open a new window on the right-hand side of the map. Each has a green arrow in the title
bar

that can be used to minimize the window. Click again on the minimized window to re-open the window.
In the top right-hand corner of the window is a small toolbar with three icons. Clicking the top icon

will move all open windows
off of the map display. Clicking the icon again

will return the windows to the map display. If the number of open
windows causes some windows to be pushed off the top or bottom of the map display, the up

and down

arrows can be used to move the windows up and down the map display.
